Level 2

Better questions create better answers

A prompt is simply the instruction you give to AI. It can be one sentence, a list, a paragraph, or a full brief. The quality of the answer often depends on the clarity of the request.

You do not need magic words. You need context, a clear task, a few constraints, and the format you want back.

Many beginners ask AI a very broad question and then feel disappointed by a generic answer. That is normal. AI cannot read the situation inside your mind unless you give it enough useful information.

Beginner rule: do not just ask for an answer. Explain the situation, the goal, and what a useful answer should look like.

The simple prompt formula

A strong beginner prompt usually has four parts: context, task, constraints, and output format. Context explains the situation. Task says what you want done. Constraints set boundaries. Output format tells AI how to organize the response.

Weak prompt

"Write something about AI." This is not wrong, but it gives almost no direction. The answer may be vague because the request is vague.

Stronger prompt

"Explain AI to a family member who is starting from zero. Use a warm tone, avoid technical words, include three examples from daily life, and end with a short quiz." This gives the AI a real job.

Level 2 memory card

  • Context tells AI what situation it is helping with.
  • The task says exactly what you want done.
  • Constraints define tone, limits, audience, or rules.
  • Output format makes the answer easier to use.
Quick test

Can you build a better prompt?

Choose one answer for each question. Your score appears at the end.

1. What is the biggest problem with "Write something about AI"?

2. Which prompt is strongest for a guest welcome message?

3. What should you do if the first answer is close but not right?

Prompting is not about tricking the system. It is about becoming a better communicator. The clearer you are, the more useful AI becomes.
